Some enrichment tips & tricks

Some easy at home forms of enrichment can be: Different value treats hidden in a rolled towel and even tied in a knot for those more intelligent! Treats placed inside an old empty egg box for those dogs that enjoy shredding or chewing! Sprinkling their food or treats around a clean grassy area to encourage natural sniffing behaviours to naturally calm an anxious or over stimulated dog. Providing your dog with the appropriate enrichment can encourage natural wanted behaviours that have a self-soothing effect whilst giving your dog another option for the behaviours you're trying to discourage e.g. providing a treat filled egg box instead of your dog shredding through your slippers! Or scatter feeding your dog to encourage sniffing and discourage them from wolfing down their food too quickly! You can also buy slow feeders, kongs, snuffle mats, puzzle games and lickimats that are all made with the same ideas in mind. Each and every dog is different so these tips may or may not work for you but send me a message describing any unwanted behaviours and I'll get back to you with my advice!
